I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become.

How my experience can help you…

Originally from Cullompton, Devon and educated at Wellington School in Somerset, I served a short service commission in the Royal Signals and then faced my first career crossroads. Completely driven by my ambition to travel the world at someone else's expense, I eschewed university to head straight into the world of work.

I joined British American Tobacco (BAT) and spent the next 13 years in various operations management roles in Nigeria, The Congo, and Tanzania – experiencing life in the raw!

An eventual return to the UK with my wife Avis initially saw me further my career with Cadbury Schweppes, followed by 17 years growing the business at Martini and Rossi in Southampton, where I played a key role that ultimately led to Bacardi taking over the Martini Group.

However, although I had gained 30 years’ valuable experience in major corporates, it actually wasn’t me. And yet, for so many years, I couldn’t see that…

A change of direction: I’ve been there

Timely and fortuitous circumstances led to the decision to radically change my direction. Believe me when I say that I’ve been there.

In reinventing myself, I became a Career Coach in 1993, and have been helping others manage their transitions from ‘career unhappy to happy’ ever since.

During that time, I’ve worked with over 1,700 Directors and Executives on a one-to-one basis, and have built up over 450 testimonials and more than 1,000 endorsements on LinkedIn. It’s a track record I believe is unmatched by any other career coach in the UK and from which you can benefit. So there is 50 years of grey headed knowledge, wisdom and hard won experience on offer.

What makes me right for you

It is the most satisfying and rewarding role I have ever had, and one that I regard as a huge privilege. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the day I stop coaching, will be the day that my life is over. That’s how much I care about what I do!

It is very important to me that you do well, succeed and achieve happiness.. I’ll invest in you by getting to know you inside out. That’s one of the reasons why I offer a flat fee for whatever it takes. I’m never off limits for you, will visit you at home, and will usually involve your partner or spouse.

How my approach is different and will get you results

Despite not being formally qualified, I was elected President of the International Association for Career Management Professionals for the South of England and was a founder Director of the UK Board of Management. I practise what I preach and have had my own coach since 1995. In fact, I have two.

My style and methods aren’t formulaic or prescriptive; they’re driven by intuition, experience, and by whatever will get the best from you. Expect our sessions to be positive, energetic, direct, intense and sometimes loud – and not necessarily an easy ride! But it works extremely well because it’s all about results.

Finally, it’s important to work to live…

I was recently asked “Outside of work, what’s most important to you?” Well, that’s very easy – three things: my wife, daughter, son in law and grandson, and being an avid supporter of England and Harlequins rugby teams.

Although my wife might query the order of that…!!
